Pre-Dispositional Report

Ending excessive sentences and extreme punishments is paramount to protecting young people in the juvenile justice system.

A pre-disposition report is prepared for a youth in preparation for a judicial disposition of the youth’s case. A pre-disposition report is very similar to a presentence investigation report prepared for adults at the time of sentencing or prior to sentencing to be used in plea negations but there are differences. Specialized actuarial tools for youth are used during assessments and summarized in the final report.

A pre-disposition report is a multidisciplinary assessment of the youth's needs, including an individualized treatment plan and a recommendation for the most appropriate placement to meet those needs while also considering public safety.
